Inspired by Sarah Borges’ fabulous suggestion at our recent AGM we will be starting an ‘AAUK Selftape Dojo’ to enjoy a safe space to socialize and share selftape techniques.

First Dojo Challenge will be set on Monday the 15th of February.

Our 4th virtual theatrical event is here! E-Plays, Vol. 3: Renewal 
We are accepting submissions for 7- and 8-minute plays. We will choose 7 plays for performance on 6th March 2021 at 19:00pm. 

Each play must:
-Be written for Zoom
-Have at least 2 characters
-Include the line "That's how you grow"

We expect approximately 4-6 rehearsals over the course of the month of February, which will be decided by each show's director with their cast. There will be a full company technical rehearsal on 5th March at 18:00pm. 

There will be a kickoff/orientation on 5th February, time TBA. 

The deadline for submission is 4th February at 17:00pm, at which point this form will be closed for submission. 

Only actors who are members of AAUK are allowed to submit.

**Workshop Announcement**

13 September 2020 - Back due to popular demand, we are having a second CD Workshop with Laura Windows via Zoom. (**If you were able to take part in our last one, please refrain from signing up for this one, to allow for other members to meet with her.**)
This time around we will be holding the workshop on a Sunday afternoon. So if you're not usually able to make the weekday evening, this may be the perfect workshop for you!
Q&A. This 30 minutes will be dedicated to industry questions in general. If you have anything you would like clarification on regarding the industry, that everyone may benefit from hearing answered, the group Q&A is the time to ask.
1-2-1s. Once the registration is full, I will send you all an email with a Google document of time slots for the 1-2-1 meetings with Laura. During your 10 minute slot Laura will go over your showreel(s) with you, and give you insights into what she sees when she looks at your Spotlight profile as a casting director. If you have any questions specific to you, the 1-2-1 is the time to ask! (Once you've finished your 1-2-1, you're free!)

12 May 2020 - Casting Director Workshop w/ Laura Windows

Laura Windows has over 10 years’ experience casting film, television and commercials for the UK, America and Australia. She began casting commercials, working with Sasha Roberston and then moved into film and television casting, working with Lucinda Syson and Elaine Grainger on projects such as 'Stardust', 'Batman: The Dark Knight' and Emmy winning 'House of Saddam'. She then cast shows such as cast 'DCI Banks' and 'Tommy Cooper: Not Like this, Like that' with Laura Scott for ITV. She now works as a Casting Associate and Co Casting Director with Suzanne Smith. Recently they have cast "Shadow and Bone' for Netflix and 'Pennyworth' for Warner Horizon. In the past they cast 'Lucky Man' for Sky, 'Absentia' for Amazon, 'Mars' for National Geographic and 'The Replacement' for the BBC and films such as 'Resident Evil' and 'Underworld'. She has also worked as AD on feature films such as 'Nine' and 'Greenzone', worked in Sydney in casting for 9 months and was the lead Cast Co-ordinator on the London Olympics Opening Ceremony.

18 February 2020 - Suzy Catliff Casting Director Workshop

Suzy has worked as a casting director, theatre director and lecturer for over twenty years. TV series include ‘Casualty’ and ‘Silent Witness’. Films include ‘Stormbreaker’ and ‘A Bunch of Amateurs’. Suzy is UK casting Associate for Shaftesbury Films, Toronto where her work has included ‘Departure’ – a major six part TV series, all series of Murdoch Mysteries and Frankie Drake Mysteries. She is co-author of ‘The Casting Handbook’ published by Taylor Routledge. She has adapted various novels for stage including ‘No Name’ by Wilkie Collins.

30 October 2019 - Hannah Miller Casting Director Workshop

Hannah Miller CDG is the Head of Casting at the RSC. Having studied Drama at the University of Hull she went to work at Cheek by Jowl followed by the National Theatre as a Casting Assistant. She then moved to the RSC as Deputy Casting Director, was Casting Director for the Birmingham Rep and then returned to the RSC in 2008. Hannah also works regularly in drama schools and with other industry organisations advising actors on professional development.

18 June 2019 - Andrea Clark Casting Director Workshop

Andrea Clark is a founding member of the Casting Directors' Association.

Andrea Clark Casting was founded in 2006. She casts major national and international commercial campaigns, including McDonalds, Rimmel, Zurich, John Lewis, and T-Mobile, as well as films and TV projects of all sizes and genres.

She has assisted with the casting of major feature films such as Hellboy, Blade II, and Hidalgo, and was part of the casting team on MTV's The Real World.
